4 Tips to Help You Reach Your Target Audience

With online tools, you can now easily reach more people who are interested in your business. There are a number of ways to reach your target audience, so here are 4 tips to et you started:

1. Join online conversations in social media

Social platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and social event websites such as meetup.com, make it easier to connect with local people with specific interests and locations. Participate in conversations that are relevant to your industry or are locally oriented.  That way, you can engage with people directly who are more likely interested your business.

For example, if you’re a fitness trainer, a great way to get noticed and to build credibility is share your health and exercise advice with people looking to get into shape and answer people’s health questions.

TIP:  Direct traffic to your site and reach customers by sharing your expertise on social platforms and relevant websites. Leave comments and post content on social media – and be sure to link back to your website.

2. Use the right keywords

Help your target audience find your business, service, and/or product by appearing higher in online search results. This can be done by including the right keywords on your website or ad. When coming up with keywords, think in terms of what your customers are searching for. Try to be specific enough to improve your page ranking in searches (as there is higher competition for more generic keywords).

For example, if you have a bakery in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, be sure to include keywords such as bakery, cakes, pastries, Dartmouth, Halifax, etc. on your website's homepage. You can see how well certain keywords perform using tools such as Google Keyword Planner.

3. Online ad targeting tools

Many online advertising platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Google have customized targeting tools to help you reach people in specific locations, ages, genders, behaviours and interests. Google even has a contextual targeting tool to match your ads to relevant web pages.
