Most businesses have an online presence that includes having a website and social media page. However, if you are creating online content for your business, don’t miss out on opportunities by skipping a call-to-action.

What is a call-to-action?

A call-to-action (CTA) is a button, image or line of text that prompts your visitors, leads, and customers to take action.

CTAs can be actions that prompt your customer to do just about anything. For instance, this could be a subscribe to your newsletter button, or download a free eBook, or make a purchase on your website.  Below is a list of some common CTA examples:

Why are call-to-actions so important?

CTAs are essential tools to help you retain potential customers and drive profit for your business. They remind and encourage customers to take the next step, whether it’s to get more information about your products or services, share their contact information so you can send them updates, or even make an online purchase.

For instance, if you have a subscribe button on your webpage, you can start building a contact list of customers who are interested in learning more about your business and its expertise. That way, you can continue to inform them about your latest updates and establish a long-term relationship with them.

Some CTA tips

  • Use clear and direct language that incites action.
  • Provide a valuable offer of a piece of helpful information. Sales CTAs can be great, but not all customers are ready to buy right away.
  • Test different types of CTAs and see what’s most enticing to your audience.
  • If your use a CTA button, make it more visible and appealing by using bright colours and a simple font.
